Notice how John starts, what are the first 3 words?  In the beginning, where have we seen this before?  We see it in Genesis. The same God that created the world, that hovered over the waters, that created us, is the same God that is the Word - from the Greek word logos - which points to Christ, the one presenting the gospel.
