Listen "Episode 11 : How Religion Both Heals and Harms"
Episode Synopsis
Religion carries within it both the wound and the wonder.
It can wound through exclusion, violence, shame, and control.
And yet it can also wonder us into awe, belonging, compassion, and transcendence.
In this episode, we explore that tension: how religion can both heal and harm, sometimes in the same breath. We’ll ask:
Why do we keep turning to religion, even after it has hurt us?
What is it in the sacred impulse that refuses to die, even when institutions fail?
And how do we live in this paradox where the deepest wounds and the deepest wonders often come from the same place?
This will be a long journey, but necessary. Because to understand religion honestly, we must hold both sides: the harm it causes, and the awe it inspires.
