Episode Synopsis

Tina has been involved with print media since college where she interned at The Boston Globe, and was instantly drawn to the excitement of working in a newsroom.  Currently, she is a Media Coordinator for Somerville Community Center (formerly SCATV) where she also produces and hosts shows which features multiculturalism and social issues.  Most recently, she expanded her multi-media skills into comedy and has performed some of her own-written skits on stage in Somerville.   Tina uses her passion for writing and multicultural perspective, as a first generation Cape Verdean-American who grew up in Cambridge, to serve as a voice of the community.  In her former role as Communications Manager for the Urban College of Boston, she launched multi-media campaigns to promote affordable higher education to students on the path to upward mobility. She was also a Co-columnist for Bay State Banner, New England's largest African-American-owned community newspaper where she published hundreds of featured events and interviews with many celebrities such as Actors Spike Lee and Harry Belafonte. During her undergraduate and graduate careers, Tina studied languages and comparative public policy in Central America, Africa and Europe which also contributed to her multidisciplinary approach to support community media. A graduate of Suffolk University Business School where she currently serves on several alumni Boards including the Sawyer Business School and Women in Leadership, she is a Co-organizer of Suffolk's Black Alumni Network Racial, Diversity and Inclusion 2020-2021 Webinar Series, and events that promote programs to support women and students of color to thrive in their professional and personal lives!
