Shyamenda Purslow is one of the founder members of 'MenTalk Ubuntu', the group has a podcast and a presence on most social media platforms - they emerged during the Pandemic when, as Black men, they felt it important to come together to talk, support and share their experiences. They found a number of pertinent themes surfaced, these included; work, loss, separation, finance, relationships to name a few. They used engagement with the great outdoors and nature as an important vehicle for navigating issues of importance to them. In this episode of SWM Shy shares something of his own background, how the group was formed and how they as Black men seek to sustain good mental health by finding strength and understanding through being open, honest and supportive towards each other. In the final part of our discussion, Shy shares his interests in 'authentic leadership' and which may be of real value in the future.
