Listen "Les Hair: Hometown Hero. Life, Love, and Line Drives"
Episode Synopsis
Today on Small Towns Unscripted, we sit down with a man whose life reflects honor, devotion, and deep small-town roots — Les Hair.Born in Spokane, Les went on to serve our country as a Navy pilot, completing three tours in Vietnam during 11 years of military service. But perhaps his greatest adventure began when he married Jane, a Lakeside native and lifelong educator. Together, they returned to her hometown of Manson to raise their family and live out a quiet legacy of love, faith, and hard work.Les became a apple orchardist, a devoted husband, friend to many, and a constant presence in the Lake Chelan Valley. He and Jane were married for over 60 years before she passed away last year, following a courageous six-year battle with dementia. Her strength and grace live on in the family they built and the lives they touched. And Les? He’s still swinging for the fences. A passionate fan of baseball and football, Les continues to play in men’s league softball — most recently taking home a championship title in the 84-and-over division. His love for the game, and for life, hasn't dimmed with time — if anything, it’s grown stronger.Today, we’re honored to welcome Les Hair — veteran, husband, father, athlete, and friend — whose story reminds us that grit, grace, and joy don’t retire. They just keep showing up, season after season.#smalltownsunscripted #podcast #lakechelan #chelanwa #mansonwa #veteranstories #dementiaawareness #americanheroes #softballlife
