Achieving Your Best co-owner and registered dietician Cassie Dimmick joins us for a discussion about nutrition and exercise. Trying to unravel the mystery of nutrition and labels can be daunting. That’s why we wanted to bring in an expert to help explain the latest, science based information. Do you ever wonder why some “diets” just don’t work for you? Or why even though you exercise daily you can’t shed those last few pounds? Are you doing just one or the other and expecting results? Genetics, body type/shape, exercise and nutrition must all be considered in your plan for better overall wellness. It’s important that you set goals that are attainable based on all the factors. We discuss how to grocery shop, what to look for and some specifics about reading labels. Overly processed foods should be avoided and that includes some of those protein powders we think are good for us. What are healthy snacks? Are those protein bars that are all the rage truly good for you? Hint, better watch the sugar and sodium content in those bars. What’s the healthiest diet to follow? Try a Mediterranean diet with lots of veggies, fish and olive oil. Whew! It’s all so much, right?!? Here’s the thing to remember. Just take one small step like taking a daily walk or filling your plate with half veggies and half protein.
