Listen " Daniel K.: Fundraising, Access and Learning to Pivot "
Episode Synopsis
Welcome to Simple Acts, Big Impact: Celebrating Teen Changemakers. On this short weekly podcast, I will interview big-hearted 'tweens and teenagers who are volunteering, fundraising, starting nonprofits, and becoming social entrepreneurs and activists. I will amplify their stories and celebrate them, and share these stories with a world that could really use a dose of inspiration right now. On our first episode, I welcome Daniel K., a high school senior from New York City. Daniel tells us about a fundraising project that he launched around his passions - sports, fantasy football, and March Madness - and how he had to learn to be flexible and pivot in order to make an impact on an issue and a community he cares about. Daniel gives us some great reminders about tying service to activities we enjoy, and that we should always recruit friends to come along for the ride.
Daniel recommends the restaurant where he worked (and a place he loves), Kings of Kobe on 42nd Street and 11th Avenue in New York City, www.kingsofkobe.com, and he talks about supporting City Meals www.citymeals.org, which is the New York City branch of the national nonprofit Meals on Wheels.
