Listen "Ning"
Episode Synopsis
This is a very serious song I wrote towards the end of 2019. I was inspired by Christmas carols that often talk about things happing in the morning. This got me thinking about ning - what is it, and why is more of it in the morning? This song eventually emerged.
This song provides your recommended daily dose of ning. It might even make you sing and give you zing.
This recording was made in March 2020 and features me singing with myself, and playing the ukulele (tenor and baritone) and kazoo.
Here are the words:
When the morning is a-dawning
And the evening is a-yawning
That's when you'll find some ning
Cause ning is the thing you need
Chorus
Ning is the thing that makes you sing
Ning is the thing that gives you zing
Ning helps you do most anything
So the thing you need is ning
If everything is pinging
And the bells dong ding dinging
That's when you'll need some ning
To help you do your thing
When all your thoughts are tangled
And your words are getting mangled
That's when you'll need some ning
To help you smile and sing
The Chinese character on the image (寧) is pronounced níng, and means peaceful. It is also a surname, and is 宁 in simplified Chinese. Other characters pronounced ning are available. The other words on the image are transliterations of Ning in the Greek, Cyrillic and Armenian alphabets.
