Listen "THE TRIP is her first feature"
Episode Synopsis
After spending time at John Tyler Community College and Savannah College of Art and Design, Lindsey found herself in VCU’s cinema program, where she graduated in August 2022. One month later, she directed her first feature-length film, THE TRIP, which follows a group of friends with some relationship issues on a weekend getaway. The upcoming screening is part of the “First Features” series at the Institute for Contemporary Art. It will be shown on 12/1 at 2pm (free). We talk about:
– When she pivoted from acting to directing
– Was the inspiration for the film from personal experience?
– Rehearsing and living with the actors during the shoot
– Were actors required to jump in the water to get cast?
– Deciding not to use an intimacy coordinator
– Casting from Virginia and beyond
– What’s next?
