Darci Spiteri is a 2nd year Electrical Apprentice with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 105 in Hamilton, Ontario. It took a few years of searching after high school, but her journey to the trades finally began in 2018, when she received the Second Career Grant from the Provincial Government. After graduating from 5-month Pre-Apprentice Program, she found IBEW and was the only female in her apprentice intake. While Darci has been on her own journey, she has also be actively supporting, inspiring and advocating with the growing community of women in trades on social media. In particular, she is a founding member of Women on Site an online (and sometimes in-person) super supportive community of women in Ontario, Canada who work on construction sites. In this episode we talk about the courage it takes to learn, how supportive community can give us the freedom to think BIG, and the wisdom of "sticking with something".
