Listen "Episode 12 - Laura Hutt"
Episode Synopsis
Laura Hutt went to Algonquin College for Civil Engineering Technology. She started her career in coordination and assistant project management roles for restoration and civil construction companies. While working for PCL Construction in Ottawa she had the opportunity to work an out of town project and move into site supervision. Shortly after starting in a fully on-site role, Laura founded Women In Steel Toes. WIST is a hub of content and resources including a podcast, blog, Instagram feed and work-wear partnerships that supports a diverse and integrated construction workforce. In this episode we talk about the need for affordable women's work-wear that is available in stores, the impact of sharing stories with WIST, and why "toughening up to fit in" is a lie.
