In this episode we're getting techy with it....talking Women Who Code with special guest Sharen Eddings.
Sharen taught herself how to code after her youngest son was born sickly. Needing better healthcare coverage for her son she taught herself how to code in order to find a career that provided those better benefits. She landed her first job in tech after only 8 months of self-instruction at an automotive software engineering company. She wanted everyone to know how learning to code could help them. So she started volunteering at her son's school in Detroit to teach him and his classmates how to code. Sharen saw a gap in the market and the need for a better STEM E-Learning Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. So, she developed her own software while facilitating pilot programs in several schools with the mission to learn what students, teachers, and schools wanted & needed. While also working for several of her competitors to find out why they were unable to solve the problem, provide these essential services, and how Codewithsharen could do it better. Once Sharen’s job was outsourced to India. She decided that it was time to work full-time on Codewithsharen LLC.
