Toward the beginning of His ministry Jesus had come to the synagogue in Nazareth and read from Isaiah 61 which told of the mission of the Messiah. He told those present that day the scripture was fulfilled in their hearing. Good news would be preached to the poor. Captives would be set free. The blind would see. Understanding the spiritual nature of the kingdom of God, do we know who these people are and exactly what was to be done for them? Would not this still be the mission of the church today? Seems quite important to me!
