Inspired by Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and its cinematic counterpart Apocalypse Now, writer and director James Gray set out to film the tale of an astronaut Roy McBride (played by Brad Pitt), who journeys to confront a renegade explorer that has become consumed by madness not in the jungle but at the far reaches of our solar system. Lacey Hannan heads into the mind of James Gray to cover Ad Astra.
