Jesus' encounter with the woman with the haemorrhage in Luke 8:42-48 sheds light on the nature of different barriers to faith in Christ Jesus. The woman overcomes at least four different kinds of barriers when she encounters Jesus in faith: the crowds, the disciples, the person of Jesus and herself.
Faith in Christ is an invitation to take what often feels like a risky step through these barriers. Those who do so discover that they gain from Jesus much more than they asked for. They become children of God.
