One word we tend to use a lot during Advent is “King.” We sing it in our Christmas songs: Joy to the world, the Lord is come Let earth receive her King Hark the herald angels sing Glory to the newborn King Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel Born is the King of Israel Christmas, in essence, is the arrival of a king. That’s what the word “advent” means. The true king has arrived—to put things right and exercise his dominion. How will we respond?
