Episode Synopsis

In this episode, I talk with Nici Vance, State Forensic Anthropologist for the Human Identification Program at the Oregon State Police Medical Examiner’s Office.  After graduating college with a degree in Anthropology, Nici worked as an Eyebank Technician and later as a Forensic Scientist and Crime Scene Analyst.  Still working full time, she went to night school to earn a Master’s in Anthropology and mentored with Oregon State's head Forensic Anthropologist.  She later earned a PhD in Anatomy and then transitioned into her current role.  Nici is also an outspoken advocate for mindfulness and resilience training as an operational foundation for trauma-filled, high-reliability careersMindfulness resources:www.smilingscience.comwww.mindfulbadge.com
