Listen "12-21-21: How a 9-year-old girl set out to end world hunger"
Episode Synopsis
I would love to hear from you, just send me text and let me know what you think of the podcast.Today we continue talking about generosity and I wanted to share a story I came across about a woman named Katie Stagliano. When Katie was 9 years old she took home a seedling from school and tended to it until it became a massive 40lb cabbage. Knowing it was way too much for her family to eat, she decided to donate it to a soup kitchen. That one act of generosity sparked a fire in young Katie and she realized she could grow food and donate to those in need. She started her own garden at age 9 and as a teenager started a non-profit called Katie’s Krops that seeks to fund and educate kids all over the country to start their own gardens and donate the harvest to people who need it. Katie’s Krops now has over 100 gardens across the U.S. and has donated thousands of pounds of fresh produce.Katie sheepishly says she hopes to solve world hunger and is a shining example of how generosity not only helps others but can create a positive movement, which can impact our world.
