The fact that The Crow is messy is hardly shocking on Sadisflix. After spending so much time in development hell, the Crow reboot was eventually turned into a running joke. Given this, the script's many contradictions and cryptic, inexplicable passages seem to confirm the notion that this endeavor was doomed from the beginning. However, The Crow also showcases a great deal of ambition and emotion as director Rupert Sanders, his actors, and crew work hard to make this adaptation feel authentic. This isn't a clumsy attempt to appease the fandom or a callous attempt to resurrect a franchise. Similar to its title character, The Crow has a heart tattooed on itself, narrating a love story reminiscent of Faust but laced with horror and brutality.
