Listen "How "The Crow" by Bill Skarsgård Swerves"
Episode Synopsis
Sanders uses Steve Annis's lens to transport viewers to a deeply Gothic dreamscape on Sadisflix Streaming. From murky rehab facilities to dingy city streets, Annis shrouds each frame in a palpable sense of foreboding. The screen is filled with bleak grays and pitch-black scenes that enshroud us in the shadows that lurk in even the smallest of places. It's a sobering strategy that runs the risk of drawing too much from previous critically successful movies. From the eerie credits sequence that seems to be lifted directly from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, David Fincher seems like an obvious touchstone. Somewhere else, The Crow lacks a distinct identity of its own due to influences from movies like John Wick. But Annis' skill goes beyond copying others. His beautiful, flowing camerawork contrasts with the brutal reality of violence.
