The third mark of a genuine follower of Jesus is a surrender to Him. 1 John 2:18-27 and 4:1-6 remind us that many people who claim to follow Jesus are not authentically doing so. The authentic follower of Jesus follows the biblical Jesus in a personal relationship rather than following the Jesus of culture, of their own imagination, or the concept of Jesus.
