Listen "Honor & Anger V: Generational Trauma"

Episode Synopsis

Generational Trauma. The words themselves evoke a feeling of discomfort. I get it. Who wants to think or talk about the past, especially if it wasn’t pleasant? But as Carl Jung, a Swiss psychologist once said, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” We have been created with a calling and purpose, especially as parents, and we cannot allow a pattern of thought or behavior to overwhelm our future. Our children and future generations are depending on it.
If this is the first episode in the Honor & Anger series that you’re listening to, I hope this doesn’t scare you away! But we couldn’t have a series on how to be effective parents if we didn’t address how our pasts may be affecting HOW we parent. Remember this series hinges on Ephesians 6:1-4, where our children are called to obey and honor us, and we are encouraged to make that easy to do. Unaddressed and unresolved trauma can make both of those tasks more difficult than they need to be. Let’s wrestle with this on tonight’s episode, Honor and Anger Part V, Generational Trauma.
