As a former family law attorney, there was one lesson that I learned very quickly. People don’t play when it comes to their money or their kids. Tonight, on our last episode of Honor & Anger, we are going to be talking about the touchy subject of co-parenting. In this series we’ve dissected Ephesians 6:1-4, where we acknowledged two main truths: children should obey and honor their parents and parents should make that easy to do. The subject becomes a little more complex when we talk about what parenting looks like in both married couples and amongst single parents. How do parents get on the same page about parenting styles, goals, approaches. Are there differences between how duties and obligations are distributed between mom and dad, or custodial and non-custodial parent. Are there things we need to adjust? Are there things we are willing to admit the other parent just plain does better? And what happens when as parents, we just can’t agree on what to do?
Tonight, we’re taking a little bit of a different approach, I’ve invited three trusted friends to discuss their experiences in co-parenting. I’ll introduce them to you a little later. But I want you to be encouraged by knowing that what always has been doesn’t always have to be—so if your coparenting relationship with your spouse or with your child’s other parent is not ideal or effective, just know with effort it can better.
