Today I (Christina) sat down with our Seattle Realtor, Michelle, who helped us sell our last home. This episode dives into the varied priorities of homebuyers. We discussed the initial priorities like number of rooms and beds, but then consider how hobbies and yard maintenance and disabilities or a growing family may all be valuable considerations. Many more great nuggets of info as we chat about condos and 'non-traditional' route to homebuying with a condo as first purchase. Michelle also shares her concerns with many first time homebuyers feeling quite discouraged about affordability and throwing in the towel, but tries to gently encourage the listeners to see the potential and stability and longterm confidence that comes with a home.
I asked Michelle about questions to consider asking a realtor and we discussed asking how many transactions a realtor closed in last year, and where, and if they were cross trained in buying and selling homes. Additionally she made a great point about spending a good hour with a realtor and paying attention to your gut and how the communication flowed. If it didn't flow well or there seemed to be some trust gaps, don't overlook your instincts because the whole homebuying experience may be similar.
