Listen "Anchored 28: How to Receive the Kingdom"
Episode Synopsis
In this passage, Jesus paints three portraits of what it means to receive the kingdom of God. A Pharisee stands proud, confident in his good works, while a tax collector humbly pleads for mercy—and only the sinner goes home justified. Infants are brought to Jesus, and He honors their childlike dependence as the posture required for anyone to enter the kingdom. Then a rich ruler, though morally upright, is unwilling to surrender his wealth, revealing that idols can keep us from fully embracing Christ.Together, these moments remind us that we cannot earn eternal life through effort, status, or possessions. The kingdom is received through humility, repentance, and childlike trust. To follow Jesus means valuing Him as our greatest treasure, even above the most tangible comforts of this world. Every day, we are called to renew our surrender, resting in His mercy and living with gratitude for the incomparable gift of His kingdom.
