Episode Synopsis

It’s funny how words can change in meaning over time.
For example, did you know the word “silly” used to mean pious? The word “awful” used to have a good connotation because you were full of awe.
Similarly, the word “fellowship” has changed in meaning. Today the word evokes images of meals, or simply shaking hands, greeting one another, and spending a few minutes in shallow conversation. But biblically, the word is much deeper.
Today we will look at the actual meaning of the word “fellowship”, which comes from the Greek word “koinonia”.
We are going to paint a word picture of koinonia from the Bible to better understand that koinonia is much more than a meal. Koinonia is more than a handshake. Koinonia is more than a few minutes of shallow conversation.
And hopefully when we conclude today, you will better understand your need
for koinonia – the fellowship.
