In an emergency, when time is of the essence, compassionate people jump in to save those that they can, but at the same time call for help so that as many as possible can be rescued.  In Matthew 9 Jesus sees the multitudes harassed and helpless, in need of compassion and grace.  He recognizes the time is short as are the resources. He tells his followers to “Ask the Lord of the Harvest therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” This was Jesus version of asking His disciples to call 911 so that God would dispatch more workers to help rescue those who were perishing.
