Listen "004 - Erin Whinnery"
Episode Synopsis
By day, Erin is a policy researcher, working to make K-12 schools more equitable and college more affordable. By afternoons and evenings, she quilts and crafts. Erin is Mexican-American and uses her quilt designs and colors to connect with her family’s cultural heritage. Her mother gave her a passion for sewing – every time she sits at her sewing machine, it’s like a conversation with the women makers in her family.Erin likes to start designing quilt patterns by studying the lines of modern and ancient architecture, and picks her colors by looking at fields and farms. Erin has lived on both coasts and now lives in Denver with her husband and two cats, Charlie and Annapurna. You can find her on Instagram @mija.handmade or on her website at: mijahandmade.com
