By having boundaries, you are able to establish your own identity and give yourself a clearer image of what your intentions and goals are and where you’re headed. If we don’t have healthy boundaries, what ends up happening is we end up taking on other people’s baggage. We carry around their burdens as opposed to creating space to be present and supportive. By setting healthy boundaries, you are able to protect your emotional well-being from getting drained.
