In this book we've seen that God's Kingdom creates a new vision of humanity, where an unprecedented, unparalleled equality is shared by everyone In Christ.This week he is called to put that reality into action, as he deals with a former slave, Onesimus, who has wronged him.That equality, that topsy-turvy, power altering reality not only means Philemon is to swim against the tide of the culture in how he responds, he is going to have to set aside his rights, and seek reconciliation with Onesimus in a way that is costly - costly personally, and costly financially. As we walk through this passage today we’ll spend some time thinking about i) Onesimus’s guilt, and ii)Philemon’s response to it.
