Once upon a time in America, people were proud to pay their taxes. Somehow, the rich have convinced us that taxes are an evil burden instead of a patriotic necessity in order to provide for the general welfare. Politicians of every stripe are always quick to promise to cut our taxes even though we really don’t pay a high tax rate on our income.Maybe if we can once again make paying taxes something to be proud of, we will find politicians with the political will to raise taxes on the rich.Just a thought.
