In the first episode of "Reeling in Cancer Awareness," Deb and Elle introduce the C Aware program, aimed at supporting the fishing community in North Shields. They chat about offering info on cancer symptoms, prevention tips, and ways to get help, all without needing a doctor's visit.
Elle mentions the weekly C Aware stall on the Fish Quay, where people can stop by for materials like mole-checking cards.
"We want everybody to be a champion, championing the cause," says Deb, highlighting the effort to recruit and train Cancer Champions. Elle adds, "This work will support other communities who face the same barriers as fishermen."
