God has always had a plan, and it is a very good plan. Through Romans 9 Paul takes us into God's past dealings with Israel to show how His character and dealings with humanity are not dependent upon us. God is not reacting to people, but rather going above and beyond to extend hope through Jesus. Through Romans 9 we see 4 attributes of God on display. These attributes of God are exposed and magnified in the person and work of Jesus, because Jesus has always been the plan of God from the very beginning. The truth that most of Israel has rejected their Messiah cannot lead us to the conclusion that something is wrong with God. If we foolishly come to this conclusion, it is because we have drawn a caricature of God through a mixture of fantasy and over exaggerated reality. This false god does not exist, and is not an accurate representation of Jesus.
