Having security is a massive need in all areas of life, including spiritual security. Our spiritual security is derived specifically from 2 aspects of God's character...that God is all powerful and all good, which makes you all secure. The power and goodness of God work together create a climate of spiritual security. In this section Paul targets 2 toxic mindsets to combat and destroy them with truth. Painful situations can cause us to doubt God and think, "I am suffering, so God must not be able to deliver me." concluding that my suffering is evidence that God is incompetent. Or, we think "I am suffering, so God must not care about me." concluding that my suffering is evidence that God is immoral. When we can trust that God is all powerful, then we can rest in His sovereignty. When we can trust that God is all good, then we can rest in His love.
