The bleak picture of human depravity goes from bad to worse throughout the first three chapters of Romans. "But now". These words dramatically shift our attention toward the bright light of justification by grace through faith. Paul masterfully wades us into the intricate theological depths of how righteousness from God is made available to guilty, sinful, wicked humanity. Belief is a common human trait. We are all placing our faith in someone or something. So the question is not, "Do you believe?" but rather, "What do you believe?" The only God who exists has made only one way for people to be made right with Him. Belief in the finished work of Jesus on your behalf is the only way into relationship with God. Will you take hold of the means of salvation that God has prepared for you through Jesus?
