This letter to the church at Rome takes a dramatic shift away from the headline of "Good News" to forcefully address the bad news. We will only appreciate and apprehend the good news when we have come to grasp the bad news. The bad news is, the only right response of God toward sin is His wrath, and every single person is guilty of sin. Romans 1 concludes with four reasons why we deserve to endure the wrath of God. There can be no enduring relationship where sin is allowed to thrive, and this truth is magnified even more when it comes to the relationship between God and humanity. There are only two choices when it comes to God's wrath. Either, God pours out His firm, settled, and perfect hostility towards all evil on the cross of Jesus for your sin, or He pours out that wrath upon you for your own sin. Jesus took the wrath you deserve on the cross.
