The faithfulness of God is not dependent upon human faithfulness because He is faithful based upon who He is and not the circumstances of what we do or don't do. This theological reality concerning the character and nature of God is paramount to grasp because it gives us security in our relationship with Him. Through Romans 11, Paul calls five witnesses to the stand to testify to the faithfulness of God toward Israel. The fact that God is faithful to Israel is reason to trust in His faithfulness to me. If God has abandoned the Jewish people, then what kind of security could I have? What if I mess up too badly? What if my sin goes too far? Will God abandon me too? Absolutely not! Not because you're so great and you have earned His favor, but because He is so great and is graciously merciful to you even though you don't deserve it. God's love is ridiculously amazing!
