Jesus is the newborn King who we celebrate at Christmas. When you recognize Jesus as King, He is in His right place and you are in yours. Christmas celebrates the first coming of King Jesus, who comes as the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world and conquer the hearts of His people. When you recognize that Jesus takes your place and pays your debt because of your sin, His great love overwhelms you and He conquers your heart by transforming you from an enemy to His friend. In Matthew 2, Herod is willing to murder the children of an entire area in an attempt to hold on to his power and authority. He refused to have Jesus dethrone him. So too, the rebellious heart of humanity naturally rejects King Jesus, but by the supernatural grace of God we can yield to King Jesus. To this day wise men are still seeking Jesus, worshippers are still giving Him gifts and wicked men are still grasping for their own power. Will you believe in Jesus’s sacrifice for you? Will you submit to Him as your king? Or will you try to hold on to your autonomy and reject Jesus as King?
