Do not murder is often misunderstood as "do not kill", and this small but significant change brings with it a lot of confusion. Not all killing is murder, and not all killing is sinful, and when we equate these two very different ideas we turn a simple concept into a very confusing one. Understanding the idea of murder and how to apply it can be complicated, but not confusing. Murder is a spiritual issue because it is against God who made people in His image and it is demonically inspired. As humanity gets further from God, the practice of murder exponentially increases to unimaginable extents. Murder is more a part of our culture than many of us are willing to recognize.
