Saul is about to undergo his final exam from the Lord, but he is completely blind to it because of his pride. Saul is completely oblivious of this critical moment in his life because he has forgotten that he is not the one in sovereign control, but that God is over him. The judgment of God comes against the Amalekites, and also against Saul for the exact same reason…because they both rejected God and His way in favor of their own way. Obedience to God is not made possibly by trying really hard to hold on. Instead it is made possible through submission to Jesus as Lord. Then, and only then, will you find your right place in life. Choosing to receive the salvation that Jesus purchased with His blood and submitting to His Lordship is how you get into the family of God and it is how you continue to grow and find depths of freedom. All of it is wrapped up in Jesus. Will you submit yourself to His righteous rule?
