The books of Ezra and Nehemiah come at a unique time in the history of Israel. After spending the last 70 years in exile the King of Persia orders for the temple of God to be rebuilt. This return is a part of God's plan that he prophesied in Jeremiah that after 70 years he would once again gather his people and bring them home. But the reality is that only a few of the exiles return, while most choose to stay in Babylon. What is God doing during this time? What is he trying to teach his people as they return home to rebuild their devastated land? What do Ezra and Nehemiah have to teach us about faithfulness to God's promises in the midst of trials and challenges?
