Is that the right baby?Christmas is about the coming of a baby, but if you read the Christmas story in the Gospel of Luke he starts with the wrong baby. The birth of John the Baptist is told first. This is consistent in all the Gospel accounts. John the Baptist comes before Jesus. Why? How is John’s advent, his coming, connected to the advent of Jesus? When we answer those questions we will see what a gift John the Baptist is to the people of God.John the Baptist has some hard things to say, but his words lay out the pathway to the life we long to live. We don’t have the time or energy to cover things up and pretend. John helps us move past the superficial and experience the true health and hope of Christmas.I can’t wait to worship together.Pastor David
