Listen "Line Break | Write a Poem, Plant a Tree, hosted by Lorin Reid"
Episode Synopsis
POEM FOREST is a free nature writing prize that breathes life back into the natural world that sustains us. In this episode, POEM FOREST Producer Lorin Reid highlights some POEM FOREST poem commissions and entries. https://redroompoetry.org/projects/poem-forest/ Created by Red Room Poetry, in partnership with Wollongong City Council, POEM FOREST invites students and teachers to use their words to make positive climate action. For every nature poem received a tree is planted to help heal habitats and create a POEM FOREST for future generations. Since 2021, over 10,700 poem trees have been planted. All POEM FOREST Prize entries are published in our digital library and have the chance to win $5,000 in prizes, including $500 cash for each category, book packs, garden tours, plants, journals and more. Entries are now open, closing Friday 22 September 2023. Enter here. If a poem was a room you could walk into, whose voices might you hear? Red Room Poetry grew from a community radio show focused on the voices of Australian poets. Now in our 20th year, explore Red Room Poetry’s audio archives including commissioned poems from the first two years of the national Poetry Month and beyond.
