Listen "Self-Righteousness Is Stupid: We Need Each Other"
Episode Synopsis
In today's episode, I discuss self-righteousness and how it has impacted my life. I share my struggles from time to time with an attitude of superiority, although shameful to admit. This mindset has led me to be intolerant of others' opinions and behaviors, pushing me away from the acceptance and humility that are crucial in recovery. Through my experiences, I've learned that self-righteousness is rooted in a lack of acceptance—of others, ourselves, and our circumstances.
I talk about how embracing the Serenity Prayer has helped me let go of the need to control others and instead focus on "live and let live." This episode also touches on how I've learned to deal with self-righteous behavior in others, choosing to respond with humility rather than ego. By understanding that everyone is struggling in their own way, I've found that I can maintain my serenity and keep moving forward in my recovery.
This episode is a reflection on the importance of humility, acceptance. It's a reminder that the journey of recovery is about progress, not perfection, and that by letting go of self-righteousness, we open ourselves up to the truth that we need each other.
