In Jesus' day and ours, name-calling is as equally disrespectful as a slap in the face. Being called a hypocrite, phony, fake, liar, or devil was a blow to a person's character, and they called Jesus and his disciples all of thy above. But instead of playing tit for tack with words, He taught His followers how to develop a thick outer shell like a soldier's armor to deflect the negative words of their oppressors by using gentle, kind words as their weapon.
