But the deeper they went into the dark woods, the stranger it became. Shadow figures flitted along the trail edges, unseen footsteps stirred the brush, and far from any homes or roads, the chilling sound of a baby crying echoed from the trees. By the time they reached the old bridge—where an overwhelming wave of nausea always struck—tension was high. With no ghost-hunting gear on hand, they relied only on their eyes, ears, and instincts.
