In this episode we completed Genesis Chapter 32 where we talked about the gifts Jacob gave to Esau and their reunion when Esau forgave Jacob. We talked about Jacob wrestling with the angel (which represented God) and have his name (nature) changed from Jacob (the deceiver by, schemer) to Israel (Prince with God). We talked about our struggles and the fact that we too must wrestle with God thru those trying situations until we see a change. Whether we are praying for our own problems or situation or someone else’s. Sometimes we must hold on until we see a change. We talked about the significance of this name change because this is where the term started, the children of Israel. The descendants of Jacob (Israel) are the children of Israel. It’s as if through all his struggles, Jacob is birthing a nation! All his struggles with Esau, Laban, his two wives, and now his struggle with God could represent ‘labor’ pains.
