Episode Synopsis

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! This afternoon (5/24/22), in our Rambam Bekius chavurah, we aimed to explain the perplexing halachos of "nidui in a dream." Halachically, why should we care about the contents of a dream here when we disregard them in all other areas of halacha? Why are the requirements for being released from a dream-nidui different and more stringent here than by a normal nidui? What is the nature of this nidui anyway? We succeeded in developing an approach based on other Rishonim, but we have yet to determine what the Rambam would say. We will endeavor to do that tomorrow (בג"ה).----------מקורות:רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות תלמוד תורה ה:א; ז:יבמאירי - סנהדרין דף ל עמוד אערוך השולחן יורה דעה סימן שלד סעיף קטן לר"ן, רא"ש, תוספות, מאירי - נדרים דף ח עמוד ארש"י - בראשית לז:ט-ירמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר זמנים, הלכות תעניות א:יברמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר שופטים, הלכות סנהדרין והעונשין המסורין להם כט:ט-י----------This week's Torah content has been sponsored by Alex K. Each session consists of us reading through the Rambam's writings together without much preparation on my part, and without going into depth by consulting commentaries or primary sources. For all these reasons, there are bound to be inaccuracies, errors, and other types of shortcomings which would not be acceptable in a prepared shiur, but are quite typical of a bekius chavurah.
