Listen "Shelley Kemmerer: Parental Self-care | Raising Parents #4"
Episode Synopsis
Parenting isn't easy; the prolonged stress we feel from raising our children isn't new and with that causes parental burnout. Parents need to find priority in self-care, and on this episode of Raising Parents: The Parenting Science Podcast, host Dina Sargeant is joined by Shelley Kemmerer to talk about the importance of parental self-care. Following her post-graduate certification from The Training Institute of Parental Burnout, Shelley actively collaborates with other professional parental mental health advocates in order to increase awareness on sustainable burnout prevention for both parents and caregivers.
This episode started with some practices of parental self-care that need to be highlighted -- looking different to other people. Shelley also marks some important things from her perception about parental self-care, including the difference between self-care and self-investment, and also answers some questions from the audience related to parental self-care that you may have asked in the past.
