【TOP STORY】
Eric explained that illegal logging like what happened in Ba Abang also happened in Ulu Kakus.
He believes that these illegal loggers are protected by certain parties. Eric wonders how loggers can hide bulldozers, trucks and logs that have been felled when the forest department conducts aerial/drone monitoring. Eric explained that – before the work of stealing wood was done.
Agents from these logging companies will meet with tribal leaders/community leaders. Eric believes that the clan leaders are paid a sum of money to not speak out or to cover up the illegal activities. According to Eric, most of the workers are Chinese and they look like gangsters. Eric was very sad when the forest in Ulu Kakus was destroyed and the river was polluted with silt.
Not only that, these illegal loggers will transport these logs at night so that their activities are difficult to detect.
He said that they don't know how to solve this problem. they hope someone listens to their complaints.
Eric is ready if there is anyone who can help him bring the case of illegal logging in Ulu Kakus to the MACC. Last week RFS spoke with Wesly Ancho from Rumah Alip Tubau, regarding a similar case.
Please report to the RFS if there is a case of logging in your area.
